Yes, you heard me, MAKEUP-FREE. Aside from applying sunblock to your skin, going makeup-free is the ultimate bestest thing you can do for your complexion, your self-confidence and even your sense of self-worth…..
For some of us women folk, this maybe easier said than done. Personally i’m not a huge makeup wearer, as currently my lifestyle doesn’t really call for it (but when I do it’s a tinted moisturiser and a lip-gloss). I do however, believe there is a time, a place and a purpose for makeup. Especially when you need to look and feel a bit more slick and polished, whether that's’ for work, going on a date, attending a wedding etc, but not everyone wants to look like a Kardashian before leaving the house.
So ask yourself, how long have you been using and wearing makeup? Since those awkward teenage years perhaps? Do a quick add up in your head…..how many years have you been applying an array of synthetics, fillers and chemicals to your face? And as we grow older we tend to add more products to help our aging/problematic skin.
Quick question. How many of you go makeup free and if so how often?
It's worth training ourselves to stop periodically and take stock of what and how much we are using. Go back to the bare minimum and add back what is essential. You’ll not only free up space in your bathroom and handbag but also gain back precious time!
Here are some key benefits or reasons to go makeup free:
We are all sold and taken in by media and society’s idea of beauty. And as Meghan Trainor put it in her hit “ All About That Bass”....
”I see the magazines working that Photoshop
We know that s*#t ain't real
Come on now, make it stop
If you got beauty beauty just raise 'em up
'Cause every inch of you is perfect
From the bottom to the top”
There is a long list of models or celebrities who are selling or endorsing makeup or fragrance, telling us who we are isn't quite as good as who they could make us into.
The good news is now the tide is turning and celebrities are embracing and endorsing the no makeup look (#nomakeupselfie). From Alicia Keys to our very own Lorde, the list goes on, because it’s important that we don’t rely on makeup in order to accept the reflection staring back at us.
We would love to know your thoughts and if you plan on going makeup free.
