The greatest gift you can give someone is your time. Because when you give your time, you are giving a portion of your life that you will never get back.
The giving of your time is one of the most selfless things you can do and if your anything like us, we are firm believers in the value of 'time'. Whether you give or get given it in the form of some quality down-time for yourself like a great pedicure/manicure, spa treatment, or time away from kids to read a good book. Time together is also as precious, particularly so once you become a parent. Post-kids, it can become hard to remember what it felt like to be "the two of you". So why not ditch the traditional Valentine's Day gifts this year and try these gifts of 'time'.
Whether you had a romantic stroll along the beach at sunset, a picnic in the park or drinks at your favourite bar/cafe, recreating your first date as precisely as possible is a great way to show you remember why you fell in love with your partner. If it was a big, flashy date, make it big and flashy again. If it wasn't, keep it simple. The point to take that stroll down memory lane and get all those emotions front and centre again, before the jobs, bills, kids and family became the focus of your lives. Or, if your first date wasn't all that great to start with, you could always ask your partner what they wish your first date had been instead and do that.
Getting out of your routine and getting active is a great way to spend quality time with your partner and with the added benefit of keeping fit. Why not try squash, skiing or snowboarding, or even take up dancing together like Ceroc, Latin or Ballroom dancing - its hands on and gets you up and close with each other!
Everyone likes to be pampered and fussed over every once in a while, and a bath is an intimate way to get closer. Make your partner's favourite drink or cocktail (yes, a Coke's fine if your partner doesn't drink alcohol), light some candles, burn a little incense, and run them a warm bubble bath. Once they're in the tub, help them wash those hard-to-reach areas. Or, better yet bath/shower together, hey you could even use one of our amazing coffee scrubs on each other while your in the shower! You will not only save on water but you will both have silky smooth and touchable skin. Bathing together is a great, sexy way to cap off the night... or start one.
Okay, not everyone's going to consider this "quality time", but if you were both fans of some of those 'old school' games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros when you were kids, why not reconnect with your inner child? Close the curtains, throw some bedding and cushions on the floor and grab some snack food while you go after the bad guys together.
Could you give Jamie Oliver a run for his money with your awesome culinary skills? Or do you just have the number of a really good restaurant that permits ordering out? Make a night of it by putting on your best threads and your nicest shoes, popping a bottle of wine and playing your partner's favourite music.
We hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day, and in the words of Leo Christopher - "There's only one thing more precious than our time and that's who we spend it on".
